Hospital programme uses tai chi, pilates and yoga for arthritis

The Hospital for Special Surgery, based in the US, ran a weekly exercise programme of tai chi, pilates and yoga for 1,400 elderly arthritis sufferers. 204 of those participants completed a survey at the end of the programme, with 80% reporting less stiffness and improved balance.

“The survey results indicate that the hospital’s exercise programs have a positive impact on the musculoskeletal health of participants,” comments Sandra Goldsmith, director of public and patient education at Hospital for Special Surgery.

Our data indicate that hospital-based programs can play an important role in pain relief, improved quality of life and improved levels of physical activity in older individuals with musculoskeletal conditions.”

Tai Chi, Pilates and yoga are now the most prominent methods used in various types of healing process and in overall development of health. Congrats you again for your effort and for this blog.
