Changes to Instagram Layout

Do you use Instagram to promote your therapy business? Then you may have noticed the changes in which posts are laid out on your profile.

Prioritising the popularity of short form content like Reels, Instagram has decided to shift away from the traditional ‘square’ shaped post (1080px x 1080px) in favour of a rectangle shaped post (1080px x 1350px).

Instagram has been rolling out this change over the past month and are still in the process of adding the changes to every account, so do not worry if you have not seen the new layout yet.

Though many users prefer the change, it can be inconvenient for content creators who have found their social media looking less neat and tidy than it was and now have to change up their design process. However, Instagram have said that they are also in the process of giving users a way of adjusting their profile thumbnails to help those whose posts have been affected by the update.

In the meantime, users looking to post on Instagram should use the new dimensions if they wish for their posts to be optimised on their profiles.

If you use Canva to produce your Instagram posts, you can also find an updated template under Social Media > Instagram Post

The FHT is currently in the process of shifting over to this new layout on our social media posts over the next few weeks.
