Caroline Larissey – Reflection on a Year as Vice Chair of the FHT

It’s hard to believe a full year has passed since I had the honour of being elected Vice Chair (International Federation of Health and Beauty Therapist) of the FHT. I want to start by expressing my heartfelt gratitude to all of you, our members for entrusting me with this important role. Your vote of confidence has meant the world to me.

One of the highlights of this past year has been getting to meet the incredible FHT team. From my very first visit to the office, I was struck by the dedication, expertise, and passion that each member brings to their work. It’s been a privilege to collaborate with such a talented group of individuals who are all committed to advancing the mission of the FHT.

One of my most memorable experiences was serving as a judge for the annual FHT awards. It was inspiring to learn about the heartfelt and groundbreaking work being done by colleagues in the field, and a true challenge to select the winners from among so many worthy candidates. The online awards ceremony itself was a wonderful celebration of excellence in our profession.

I also had the pleasure of visiting the FHT-sponsored massage competitions at Pro Beauty, where I witnessed firsthand the incredible skill and artistry of our members. It was a true showcase of the talent.

Throughout the year, I’ve enjoyed contributing to the FHT by representing the FHT at events, collaborating with colleagues, writing blogs and news articles on topics relevant to our field. Being featured in the fabulous International Therapist magazine was a particular honour and a testament to the reach and impact of our work.

Perhaps the most critical undertaking of the past year was the recruitment of our new CEO. I was honoured to serve on the search committee and work diligently to find the right person to lead the FHT into its next chapter. I’m thrilled with our ultimate selection and confident that under their leadership, supported by our fantastic team, the FHT will reach new heights.

As I reflect on my first year as Vice Chair, I’m filled with gratitude for the opportunity to serve, pride in what we’ve accomplished together, and excitement for what the future holds. Thank you again for your trust and support. It’s been a true privilege.
