Every month, Action for Happiness produces a calendar packed with daily actions we can take to increase our own happiness and that of others around us.
This April, the charity’s ‘Active April’ calendar focuses on daily activities to help you get active, get outdoors and take care of your body.
There are many activities you can do to stay active and enjoy the spring weather. Here are some suggestions:
- Go for a walk or hike: Take advantage of the warmer weather and longer days by going for a walk or hike in a local park or nature reserve. Not only is it a great way to get exercise, but being surrounded by nature can also help reduce stress and improve mental health.
- Try a new outdoor sport: Spring is the perfect time to try a new outdoor sport, such as cycling, kayaking or tennis. These activities can provide a fun and challenging workout, while also giving you the opportunity to enjoy the fresh air and sunshine.
- Do some spring cleaning: Spring cleaning can be a great way to get moving and burn some calories. Whether you’re organising your closet, cleaning out the garage or doing some gardening, these activities can help improve your physical health while also creating a cleaner, more organised living space.
- Join an outdoor fitness class: Many gyms and fitness studios offer outdoor classes during the spring months, such as yoga, Pilates or various bootcamps. These classes provide a great way to get exercise in a social and supportive environment.
- Take up gardening: Gardening can be a relaxing and therapeutic way to get exercise while also enjoying the outdoors. Whether you’re planting flowers or vegetables, gardening can help improve your physical health and mental wellbeing.
Remember, the key is to find activities that you enjoy and that fit your fitness level and schedule. With so many options available, there’s sure to be an activity that’s right for you!
The calendar is free to download as a PDF or image file (JPEG) in 16 different languages.
