Stress Awareness Month 2020

April is Stress Awareness Month, so FHT is helping members spread the word about how therapies can support the public.

According to the 2020 FHT Members’ Survey, 82% of our members regularly treat clients with stress and/or anxiety. Promoting Stress Awareness Month is a fantastic way to get the word out to both current and prospective clients about how you can help them combat stress.

To help spread the word, you can:

    • Reach out to your clients and local businesses, offering a discount of your choice, or introduce an exercise during your appointments that promotes mindfulness – a useful tool to de-stress.
    • Send your local newspaper or radio station a press release, telling them what you are doing for Stress Awareness Month – remember to insert your special Accredited Register mark (if eligible).
    • Get together with other FHT members from your local group to organise an event where taster treatments and mindfulness exercises are available. You might want to consider donating all or a portion of the proceeds raised to a local charity or worthy cause – it is likely whoever you are supporting will help to promote the event in return, which means more people to treat!
    • Stress Awareness Month is a great opportunity to help your clients de-stress, but it’s a reminder to take time for yourself too. Unwind by doing your favourite activity, whether it’s reading a book, going on a hike or cooking your favourite meal. Or, why not do a treatment swap with another member in your area?

Planning on holding an event? Please be sure to send in a write-up afterwards, as well as high-resolution photos, so that we can give you a mention in International Therapist and on our website!

Please email Leanne at lsheill@fht.org.uk, writing Stress Awareness Month in the subject box.
