The Professional Standards Authority, which has independently accredited the FHT’s Complementary Healthcare Therapist Register, has written to NICE regarding the Supportive and Palliative Care in Adults guideline currently under consultation.
The Authority suggests in its letter that “the guidelines proposed should include advice that providers ensure that wherever possible, professionals delivering care are registered with either a statutory regulator or an accredited register. This would help to ensure that multi professional teams are formed by competent and safe practitioners. […] As you will see, a number of [accredited] registers cover practitioners delivering supportive and palliative care such as counsellors and psychotherapists and complementary therapists.”
