In the lead up to the FHT’s first Virtual Training Congress we will be introducing FHT members to our event speakers. This week we speak to Cameron Reid, FHT Accredited Course Provider at Cameron Reid Training.
Tell us a bit about yourself… After graduating in Human Biology, I had a place to do an MSc in Sports Medicine in the USA. This was a theory MSc and I enjoy interested in working with people. I applied for a scholarship to study Osteopathy in London, and qualified in 1986.
How did you find 2020? What business challenges were presented to you and what did you do to adapt to these changes?
Very difficult, courses had to be cancelled and no patients! So I spent my time writing and producing an online course, and decorated my clinic.
What interests you outside of work? My two hobbies are playing guitar and photography. I wanted to play live in 2020 but that couldn’t happen, maybe just as well ! I entered the Sony World Photography Awards 2020 (landscape section). I had a photo accepted, now waiting to see how well I do!
What is your Virtual Congress seminar about and what can viewers expect to come away with?
The knee is subject to strains coming from above it eg hip and torso, and below it the foot. Its about developing our visual and examination skills to better understand how knee injuries start, this helps you develop a better treatment and rehabilitation plan.
What is it about your topic that appeals to you and why is it useful for therapists? Developing good practical is essential for a therapist. This lecture will focus on important aspects of knee assessment generally and in relation to knee pain in runners.
What would be your one piece of advice for therapists wanting to grow and develop their therapy practice?
Be compassionate, if people see that you are genuinely helping them they will always come to see you.
