Speaking live on BBC Radio Leicester last week, 2019 FHT Sports Therapist of the Year Rebecca Ayres and her business partner Hannah Poulton explained Scar Therapy and the positive affect it can have on clients.

Rebecca and Hannah their own scar recovery business called Reactiv8 Therapy where they use non-invasive treatments to help improve the function of a scar.

They begin the interview by explaining that they are able to help anyone with a scar through gentle massage-based techniques. Hannah explains that the focus isn’t cosmetic but instead on the effect that the scar has underneath the skin and how it can impact the individual.

Rebecca then spoke about her work volunteering at the Invictus Games in Summer 2018. She said: ‘Last summer I donated quite a lot of my time to the Invictus Games athletes. We ran training camps with them and we saw a huge array of different kinds of accidents and surgeries that have taken place, causing an array of different difficulties.

‘It was phenomenal work and there were huge responses to what we were doing, relieving a lot of pain for individuals. Scar work was something people knew little about but awareness rocketed because people can see that helps with all sorts of sensations people can experience.’

Rebecca spoke about winning 2019 FHT Sports Therapist of the Year. She said: ‘I was an award winner at the Federation of Holistic Therapists. It was a fantastic awards ceremony in London, I was recognised for what I’ve been doing in the scar arena and the sports arena.’
