Collaboration to tackle inactivity in Manchester

Sport England has teamed up with the Greater Manchester Health and Social Care Partnership to tackle levels of inactivity in the county.

The Greater Manchester Health and Social Care Partnership is made up of 37 NHS organisations and councils in the region and aims to ‘make sport and physical activity a part of daily life.’

More than 15 per cent of deaths in the area are due to sedentary lifestyles. Sport England and the Partnership are looking at ways to ‘tackle the barriers people currently face in getting active.’

Areas of focus include stress reduction, ill health and absences from school or work due to inactivity.
